Social Madness challenge pits CU against DaVita

The ever changing role of social media means organizations and agencies are always tuning up their social communication strategies and skills. Best practices, white papers and seminars are one way to keep up with trends and improvements, a competitive bracket is another.

Sponsored by Capital One Spark Business, the Social Madness challenge showcases social media growth strategies in a tournament style competition with companies competing in a series of local and then national rounds. The bracket-based challenge allows companies to compete online by collecting votes, Facebook likes, and Twitter and LinkedIn followers.

Earlier this spring the University of Colorado Denver threw its name in the hat with approximately 4,000 other organizations nationwide, all willing to take the challenge. After several weeks of going head-to-head with other Colorado companies for number of likes, followers, and votes, CU Denver emerged as a finalist in the Denver large company social media bracket.

Now in the middle of the two-week long Denver finals, CU has a week to upset current bracket leader DaVita, before it can compete on the national stage. With every vote and like counting toward the goal, CU is looking for a halftime comeback to win.

While you’re online, make sure to check in with Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado. Although CSU and UNC are not competing in the social madness challenge, both universities boast strong online communities and social media connections.
