EPA appoints Newman to panel

Lee Newman, MD

Professor of Environmental and Occupational Health Lee Newman, MD was named to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Science Advisory Board (SAB) Panel for the review of “EPA’s Toxicology Review of Libby Amphibole Asbestos.”

SAB was established by the U.S. Congress in 1978 as an advisory board to the agency. It is organized by standing committees and additional ad hoc committees and panels which address a variety of environmental science topics.

Dr. Newman directs the school’s Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center, a center funded by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.  His research interests include the health effects of beryllium and other metals, environmental and occupational etiology, and immunology.  In addition to public health, Dr. Newman holds a faculty appointment with the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
