School welcomes first two of four dean finalists to campus
The Colorado School of Public Health and University of Colorado Denver Provost’s Office, are pleased to welcome the first two of four dean finalists to the school’s campuses the week of September 19.
Deborah Helitzer, ScD, Associate Dean for Research Education at the University of New Mexico will visit the CU’s Anschutz Medical Campus and Denver Campus, Colorado State University and University of Northern Colorado Monday, September 19 – Wednesday, September 21. Dr. Helitzer will deliver an open forum Wednesday, September 21 from 11:45 to 1 p.m. on the Anschutz Medical Campus Education Building 2 North Room 2106.
Susan Fisher, MS, PhD, Chair of the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine at the University of Rochester will also visit CU’s Anschutz Medical Campus and Denver Campus, Colorado State University and University of Northern ColoradoWednesday, September 21 – Friday, September 23. Dr. Fisher will deliver an open forum Friday, September 23 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. on the Anschutz Medical Campus Education Building 2 North Room 2106.
The remaining finalists, Dr. Howard Hu of the University of Michigan and Dr. David Goff of Wake Forest University, will visit the school during the week of October 3. Campus visit details and open forums will be published shortly.

Alumni you are invited to attend a fall networking reception and evening with Dr. Maya Angelou as part of the University of Colorado Denver homecoming activities, Friday, October 21.

Join our team – CSPH is recruiting a new Finance and Accounting Manager
The Colorado School of Public Health has an opening for a full-time Finance and Accounting Manager. The Finance and Accounting Manager exercises authority over the full range of financial and administrative functions as a work leader for directing, monitoring and evaluating the financial status of the Colorado School of Public Health general funds, fiscal operations of the schools’ sponsored programs and grants programs, and payroll operations support school-wide. Position also provides direction and oversight for all Colorado School of Public Health financial and administrative processes and procedures; performs organizational analyses and reports, functions as the secondary interface for the Colorado School of Public Health finance and administrative affairs. Coordinates and assures that all fiscal rules and procedures are current and fully complied with by the Colorado School of Public Health.
The Finance and Accounting Manager would serve as an expert in financial resources within the Colorado School of Public Health Finance, Budget and Accounting section during the annual budget, mid-year review processes, and year-end financial close.
Additionally, the Finance and Accounting Manager functions as the Colorado School of Public Health Grants, Contract and Compliance Officer providing oversight for financial grant management, budgeting, and reporting. The position will manage grants and contracts activities for a diverse portfolio of research, education, and service units at Colorado School of Public Health. Key duties include managing the fiscal aspects of the grants process from proposal budget development, review of key grant terms, calculation and extrapolation of financial data, and grant compliance and reporting. Preparation of grant budgets, grant reports, and other documents that assist in meeting or exceeding grant budgeting guidelines and reporting requirements. Knowledge of the principals and practices of governmental accounting, including the ability to advise Directors, Faculty and Principal Investigators on the management of large restricted grants from all sectors, including Federal grants.

Mountain & Plains Education and Research Center announces annual grant recipients
The Mountain & Plains Education and Research Center, located at the Colorado School of Public Health, has announced the recipients of its annual grant program. The Center will distribute a total of $64,774 to projects that promote the health, safety and productivity of the region’s workers. Out of 21 applications received this year, the Mountain & Plains ERC will support eight pilot projects that address a wide range of topics from infection control in hospitals to sustainable building practices. Grant recipients received award notices last week.
In accordance with its mission to improve occupational and environmental health and safety through education, research and community partnerships, the Mountain and Plains ERC funds scientific research projects and translational “research-to-practice” projects through an annual competitive grant process. The Mountain & Plains ERC is supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, a branch of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
